Meetings on Thursdays from 6:30-8PM at Faith Baptist Church in Amherst
In Trail Life, our motto is to walk worthy. This is derived from Colossians 1:10 (vs 11-14 added), "Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
Timothy McDaniel was a young man who walked worthy. He was an integral youth member of our troop when we chartered and leaves a legacy of servant leadership. Timothy passed away in February 2023 and we all miss him dearly. When the troop first began, Timothy was "all-in." He made a commitment to Trail Life and was quick to take on leadership as OH-222's First Officer. Thanks to Tim's leadership, the Navigator and Adventurer program (ages 11-17) in our troop was able to launch immediately and effectively. This age group is now one of the largest in our troop, and much of that is thanks to Tim. When something needed done, Tim said, "Come on guys. Let's take care of this." When there was an opportunity to serve, Tim said, "We'll do it!" This carried over into adulthood, as Tim went on to become a firefighter. In early 2022, he came back and continued to serve the troop by teaching fire safety to Woodlands Trailmen. Timothy cared deeply for others. He was kind. He was hilarious. He was hard working. He loved adventure. He loved Jesus and he is with our Lord and Savior for all eternity. All those who knew Timothy are better off for the time we were blessed to spend with him.
In the spirit of Timothy's desire to help others, the Timothy McDaniel Memorial Scholarship has been established to provide financial support for OH-222 troop members with a Trail Life related need. Needs include financial assistance for a summer adventure, campout fees, dues, etc. If a Trailman couldn't afford to attend a summer adventure, these funds could be used to get him there, and we believe this would have brought a huge smile to Timothy's face.
If you have are a member of OH-222 and have a Trail Life related need, we are happy to help meet it. Please email our troop treasurer: angelacawrse@gmail.com.
If you would like to give to this scholarship, please use the gift link below. It will redirect you to a "Mogiv" giving link that is set up by Restoration Church. Thank-you!
